Sharing the Love: Our Breast Cancer Care Package Program Is Here

Candice dropping off 15 M4M breast cancer packages

At Miles for Moms, community has always been at the heart of everything we do. This February, we’re especially excited to share something new — and incredibly meaningful — with our community.

We officially launched our Breast Cancer Care Package Program, created to bring comfort, encouragement, and a reminder of support to individuals newly diagnosed with breast cancer across Massachusetts. And last week, our very first packages were delivered.

Our First Stop: MetroWest Medical Center

Candice dropped off the first 15 care packages at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham, where they were met with warmth and gratitude from the staff. These boxes will now be given to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients while supplies last.

The part that really stayed with us? One of the packages made its way into a patient’s hands that very same day.

It was a simple but powerful reminder of why this program matters. A diagnosis can feel overwhelming and isolating, and sometimes the smallest gestures can help someone feel a little less alone. Our hope is that each package offers a moment of comfort and a reminder that a whole community is thinking of them.

How It All Came Together

This initiative was made possible thanks to a generous grant from Hopkinton Country Club and brought to life by the incredible people in our community.

Volunteers gathered at The Herd, a family center in Holliston, and spent the evening packing care packages together. It felt less like work and more like what Miles for Moms has always been about — women showing up for one another and supporting families during difficult seasons.

Together, we assembled 30 care packages, each one filled with thoughtful items chosen to make treatment days just a little easier. Packages include an insulated water bottle, electrolytes, chapstick, a journal, ginger candies, face towels, and either a Miles for Moms hat or a DoorDash gift card. Every box also includes a handwritten note of encouragement, adding a personal touch from one community member to another.

Every item was selected with care and intention — the kinds of things you’d want someone to have if they were going through a hard time.

What’s Next

The remaining 15 care packages will be delivered to the Merrimack Health Lawrence Hospital and their breast center located in Andover, and we’re already working on ways to expand the program to reach more hospitals and breast centers across Massachusetts.

We’re also exploring partnerships with local companies interested in hosting volunteer packing events, giving teams a meaningful way to give back while directly supporting breast cancer patients in their own communities.

Our goal is simple: to reach more people and remind them they are not alone.
